PhotoFiltre is a complete image retouching and manipulation software.

PhotoFiltre is a completely freeware solution for editing images and photographs. It works as a great alternative to Adobe Photoshop and can complete many of the tasks before professionals everywhere. Though unlike Photoshop, PhotoFiltre is extremely small and lightweight.

The installation of PhotoFiltre couldn't be easier and quicker (well, it could.. but I digress). Unlike the massive photo editing utilities we pay hundreds for these days, this one installed in under a minute.

The interface of PhotoFiltre was lovely. It doesn't take too long to get the hang over working in this application with the main tools on the top bar with the colour palette and editing tools combined on the right-hand side.

There are a lot of photo editing tools combined in this package and automatically fixing contrast and hues along with brightness and contrast was pretty handy. It doesn't *always* get it right, but we were pretty satisfied. Unfortunately, PhotoFiltre doesn't support layers but for those that don't even know what layers are or use them, that doesn't detract from this image editor.

Thankfully and especially surprising as a freeware application, PhotoFiltre supports batch processes: this makes like a lot easier if you like to do your photo editing in batches and already know exactly what you want to do.

PhotoFiltre supports the most popular image formats such as PNG, JPEGs, GIFs and TIF files. You can browse these types of files from within PhotoFiltre since the program also includes an image explorer. You can easily access the image explorer from the bottom of the screen where you can view your images.

This program is great for getting started in your image editing career. Best of all, it's free!

What version of Windows can PhotoFiltre run on?

PhotoFiltre can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It's only available as a 64-bit download.
